Trish Lockard, editor, writer, proofreader, and owner of Strike The Write Tone.

You have envisioned an ideal reader for your work. I promise to keep your ideal reader in mind at all times. You have written with a purpose. I won’t lose sight of that purpose as I edit your work.

My promise to you is that I will read every word of every sentence with the same degree of discernment you used when writing it.

I look forward to us working together to present your best work to the world.

Welcome. I'm Trish Lockard. As Strike The Write Tone, I offer all levels of editing for a wide range of nonfiction, creative nonfiction, memoir, and self-help texts. I will proofread any manuscript, fiction or nonfiction. Visit my SERVICES page for details.

I am proud to be a contract editor, manuscript assessor, and book coach for The Cheerful Word, a memoir publisher in Hendersonville, North Carolina.

I am a member of:

Editorial Freelancers Association

ACES: The Society for Editing

National Association of Independent Writers and Editors

The National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) is an organization I devote many hours to each month. I serve as the chair of the Maryville, Tennessee, board of directors, and am responsible for education and outreach, and serve as press liaison. I am a trained family support classroom educator. I have a deeply personal commitment to fighting stigma toward those with mental illness.

Long ago and far away... after receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from the University of South Florida in Tampa, I began a career as a technical writer of end-user software instruction manuals for telecommunications, insurance, cartography, and freight logistics companies, as well as corporate policy and procedure documentation and employee benefits handbooks.
